Black magic isn’t something to mess around with and neither is this VR6. Allow us to introduce to you Devin and his one of a kind VR6. This 6 cylinder ROARS!
The magic of Devin’s car is the simplistic look that it gives when parked whilst its heart has been genetically altered in a way that even freaks out Frankenstein! Devin’s VR6 has been stroked out to a 3.0L using 11.0:1 forged pistons, over sized valves, Schrick variable geometry intake manifold, Corrado throttle body, ported and polished head, 290J Cat camshafts hence the rotary like idle and a 2 ¼ stainless steel cat back exhaust. Although Devin has not run the car on the dyno yet, he is expecting it to push out approximately 170kW at the front wheels once it has a new ECU and is tuned.
With so much power from a N/A FWD car, 330mm 4 pot Brembo brakes were installed to give this Golf its much needed stopping power.
Devin’s VR6 is wearing a beautiful pair of shoes custom ordered to fit the VR6’s PCD; two piece Work Meister S1’s. The front wears 17×8 ET15 whilst the rear wears 17×9 ET20. These wheels are wrapped in 205/40 Kumho KU31 all around. To help the car sit at a respectable height, Devin has installed KW Variant 2 coil overs.
The factory black magic pearl has been affected over the years of being a daily driver. Since being purchased in an immaculate and completely stock condition, the harsh roads have taken its toll on this cars paint! It’s a battle everyday between bruises, dents, scratches and scrapes but it’s all a part of the game. To further the look of a car which performs its duties, Devin has removed the badges, rear spoiler and rear wiper. After one of the front reflectors went missing in action, Devin decided to remove the other one, liked the look and decided to keep it that way.
What’s a car without a decent stereo system? Well Devin didn’t just stop at the exterior. Type S splits & Type S speakers were installed along with a 4 channel Kicker amp which clears the distortion. A 12 inch sub woofer was added to finish the stereo which keeps Devin awake with all that boot rattle!
Now it’s time to crunch numbers. Devin has estimated an INSANE $30,000 spent on this car. Whilst it has been a long build process, he would like to thank his family & friends who have and still are put up with his insane obsession. The future for this VR6 looks promising with a lot more work planned. Some of these plans include a stripped out interior, new ECU and a little further down the track, a GT35/40R turbo!
Devin: “All I know is that I’m keeping it!”
